Step Up Parish Project

The Step Up Parish Project (S.U.P.P) is our parish's key Social Justice initiative for 2020.  We aim to help resettle in Canada some 300 refugees who Australia has detained in Papua New Guinea and Nauru.  We will do this by raising funds to support Ads-Up Canada.  Ads-Up is an initiative by Australian expats in Canada working in their community to sponsor Australia's refugees in Canada.

​In this video, the Parish S.U.P.P project interviews Laura Beth Bugg, the co-founder of Ads-Up Canada.  Laura provides an update on the progress towards resettling the refugees from PNG and Nauru in Canada.  She describes just how reliant Ads-Up is on the fundraising support from Australians.
Shamindan Kanapathi is a refugee detained on PNG.  He is being sponsored for resettlement in Canada by Ads-Up.  In this video he describes the hope that the Ads-Up initiative is giving to him and others in his situation.
