Safeguarding Resources and Toolkit

Within the Archdiocese, safeguarding includes the actions undertaken to promote the protection and well-being of those who engage with the Archdiocese and to prevent abuse. Read more here.

The Archdiocese has zero tolerance for all forms of abuse and is committed to safeguarding everyone involved in its activities, ministries, and services.

The safety and well-being of children and adults-at-risk is paramount.

Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults
Each Parish in the Archdiocese of Brisbane has a Local Safeguarding Representative who is responsible for:
  1. Making sure that the whole parish is aware of the importance of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  2. Promoting safe practices including articulating for others what is appropriate and inappropriate behaviour; and
  3. Assisting the Parish Administrator in the implementation of the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy in the Parish

Local Safeguarding Representative's role within the parish is to assist in the implementation of the Archdiocese of Brisbane’s Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy, which complies with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.

Volunteers are required to renew their training every two years and can do so by accessing it at the Archdiocesan website Safeguarding Training
In the near future all volunteers will be able to access via Arch-e-learn system which is currently used by priests and parish staff.

The Office for Safeguarding Services supports the Archdiocese in safeguarding those who engage in Archdiocesan activities, ministries and services.​

The Archdiocese is committed to fostering a culture where people are encouraged to raise concerns and can do so safely. The Archdiocese strongly encourages anyone who suspects criminal conduct by Archdiocesan personnel to report the matter directly to the Queensland Police Service.
